Hmmm…Brand New….I always start my layouts with the photos. It gets me going as far as a color palette and how many photos, etc. Then I take it from there. With this photo, my daughter took a dramatic turn in her life with this adorable little pixie hair cut. What a surprise it was! Especially since she had worn her hair long in various vintage styles and dressed quite vintage for nearly 10 years. It was short and sassy, just like her….geez, where does she get it?! Ha, ha! I thought it just the perfect photo for our them of Brand New this month.
I had recently seen a card made with this set and similar colors that I just adored and used it as my inspiration. With her cute little Mexican house dress she is wearing, the colors were perfect. Now to get busy.
Playing with this incredible new Celebrate Sunflowers bundle has become almost an obsession of the past couple of weeks, so terrific to take it onto the page. Stamping with the Memento stamp pad and using our Stampin’ Blends in the new Magenta Madness combined with Daffodil Delight and a bit of Soft Suede completed the flowers. Not the usual combination is what makes it fun and ever so bright. I added in bits of Gold Foil paper and the gorgeous new Gilded Gems as part of the embellishments really make it sing, hard to see in the photo. I also used Gold Embossing Powder to heat embossed the flower in the upper left corner for a bit more gold.
Pulling everything together with this dramatic color palette was fun, especially all the little bits used for embellishments. I even colored the Whisper White Polka-dot Tulle Ribbon with my Magenta Madness Stampin’ Blends. Some of the flowers were totally cut out, some as overlays on stamped flowers and even some with all the bits left in for some texture. I love lots on a page, can you tell? Even the gold heat embossing for a little pop and sass, too, while the ever quiet background stamping was done with the Textured Essentials stamp set.
