Wouldn’t you love to receive an Underwater Mermaid Kisses birthday card? I sure would. When I first saw this particular sheet of Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper, I immediately knew I had to use the Magical Mermaid stamp set. It just looks like under the sea…did you hear it, too? Lol, one of my favorite Disney movies. I am happy with the final product and I hope you like it, too.
It has a Pear Pizzazz card base and a Gold Foil Sheet layer for a bit of glam. Then I layered the Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper as the lovely backdrop. Use the Embossing Buddy on the cardstock, I used the Heat Tool to melt the Gold Embossing Power on the mermaid herself and colored in with an Aqua Painter and Pear Pizzazz stamp pad (or you could substitute the re-inker, too) and some Soft Suede for her hair.
I used just a little bit of Petal Pink Light Stampin’ Blends on her body so it wasn’t so bright white. Note: A word of caution here if you use Stampin’ Blends (alcohol markers) when heat embossing. The Stampin’ Blends marker will change the color of the emboss image if you color over it. I wouldn’t recommend using them on something like this image of her tail, unless you do it very carefully. I love her look and this entire stamp set is just so nice!
What a fun sentiment and I also heat embossed it in gold for consistency. I cut it out using one of the Stitched Shapes dies layered up more gold foil and the Layering Ovals dies. I have always adored the Stitched Shapes dies, since they were first released and have used them on a TON of projects (I’m sure you have noticed, lol!). Because there is a shape and size that is just perfect for almost any sentiment!
The embellishments used are retired from awhile back, but you could certainly use just about any pearls, rhinestones (maybe even colored with Stampin’ Blends) or sequins for a similar look.
Oh my, I almost forgot to show you the inside of the card and you wouldn’t want to miss it. It just goes to show that just a little bit more effort, can really make an impact on the inside. I did so by adding a bit of seaweed embossed in gold flanking the sentiment, how fun. Now, just who will I send the lovely card to for their birthday…hmmm.
I do hope you enjoyed this card, and perhaps you’ll be dreaming of some mermaid kisses, too. I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Also, just a note to remind you that this Magical Mermaid stamp set is retiring, sigh. If it is something you want to add to your collection, you’ll want to be sure and get it now while supplies are still available.
Cheers and be sure you make all your projects A Crowning Creation.
