Our theme this month is something many can relate to, Back to School. I had a back to school photo from last year of my grandson, Max, that I decided to use.
Starting a scrapbook page takes many forms and styles. With this particular page, I found a photo that was my inspiration. The colors of red and orange are bold in the photo and Stampin’ Up! has just the perfect pattern paper to use with the See a Silhouette Designer Series Paper with these colors. Then, I was off and running to get busy with my design.
I started with a Whisper White 12″ x 12″ card stock as the base, using the Pattern Party Decorative Mask set, two Spritzers of alcohol and the Real Red ink refill and Mango Melody ink refill to add some depth to the all white background. Using Real Red card stock to anchor the large piece of DSP, provides some foundation to the overall feel of the page. And since I am such a huge texture fan, I opted to add several pieces of coordinating card stock used with different embossing folders. You might spot them on the page to see how and where I used the Basket Weave 3D Embossing Folder, the Subtles Embossing Folder, the Corrugated Embossing Folder and the Brick and Mortar 3D Embossing Folder. It provides depth and texture at the same time as giving the page some interest.
For some added visual attention, I added the word “happy” and a couple sprigs of floral stems cut out in Real Red Card stock from the Well Written Dies layered on one of the textured pieces. This was below the pieces of Whisper White 5/8″ Flax Ribbon and a piece of Crushed Curry Crinkled Seam Binding ribbon.
Scrapbooking is such a great way to relive your memories for years to come and celebrate accomplishments, too. Thanks to Stampin’ Up! for such a great day. It was followed with a dessert evening and karaoke, too.
