Welcome to our Scrapbook Global March 2019 Blog Hop!   I am so glad you are here checking out some great creativity found in one place.  You are going to love this group and get some awesome ideas, too.  These ladies are talented and want to share the love they have for scrapbooking with you.  Our theme this month is Mixed Media…fun, huh?

The lovely ladies below are our Design Team members and our Guest Designer this month is Nature Gibner, welcome!  I hope you enjoy my art project and find some terrific inspiration with these awesome items on our blog hop.

I decided to do an art project with this mixed media challenge to change it up a bit…and I always love a good challenge! 😉

This started as an 8″x8″ wood art piece from the Dollar Tree and I covered it in a couple of coats of Gesso to get a fresh palette, even covering the side edges.  I was ready to get started having some fun!

Let’s talk about the fun bits and bobs now.  I started by adding Mint Macaron Reinker to a Spritzer filled most of the way with alcohol and covered the surface, wiping any excess off until I achieved the desired look. I then stamped a few images and didn’t like them so much, so spritzed just plain alcohol to get the smudgy blotches adding some color areas for contrast.  Then it was time to play with the Embossing Paste.  Did you notice the texture element with it where I used the Pattern Party Decorative Masks?  I hadn’t used this medium before and didn’t think to add the reinker first.  After it dried, I used an Aqua Painter and some Tranquil Tide Reinker to add the color wash over it and I like the watercolor look of it.  To add some more interest, I added a few stamped images from the Artisan Textures stamp set done in Tranquil Tide.

The real focus of my project is the stamped image from Stitched All Around stamp set onto one of the labels from the Share What You Love Embellishment Kit.  I inked around the edge and layered onto both Rich Razzleberry Cardstock and Tranquil Tide Cardstock (from the Share What You Love Coordinating Cardstock pack) roughing up the edges for added texture.  To embellish my focal point, I punched out some of the same cardstock with the Leaf Punch and fussy cut several leaves and flowers from the Share What You Love Specialty Designer Series Paper curling the edges and layering them all together.  For an added pop, I used some Basic Black cardstock and the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch (one of my favs!) to add a bit more interest both above and below to really get your attention as framing for my sentiment.

Next, a little Rich Razzleberry ink using a Dauber onto the Pearlized Doilies, on the matte finish side to take the ink.  I cut it up, secured them and just a few Glitter Enamel Dots for some sparkle.  Voila!

I was quite happy with the way it all turned out and have even made a couple more projects using mixed media.  I definitely think I am hooked!  If you haven’t tried it yet, I encourage you to give it a go.

I plan to gift this project to a dear friend for her birthday, when I realized these are the colors in her bedroom.  I hope she likes it!
