Welcome to our Scrapbook Global January 2019 Blog Hop! I am so glad you are here checking out some great creativity found in one place. You are going to LOVE this group. These ladies are talented and want to share the love they have for scrapbooking with you. I am so excited to announce that I was invited to join their group as a Design Team member. What an honor and I look forward to a great experience. I hope you enjoy the pages and find some inspiration on our hop.
Our hop theme this month is based on this sketch. Ever started with just a sketch? No? Maybe give it a try. It’s kind of like having a template and just plugging in products, options and maybe even taking it just a little bit out of the box. How fun is that! Explore your creativity and have fun through the process.
My layout this month takes the sketch as a great starting point. I changed the orientation of the layout just a bit and enlarged the paper pieces, too. I am personally not a big fan of lots of white space….I know, I know…it’s the trend right now. That’s the beauty of crafting, it is how you like things. My personal style is not one of simple design whether on cards or scrapbook pages. I like texture and dimension on all my projects to really bring them to life.
The Share What You Love Designer Series Paper was perfect for my pages. I love this paper and how the coordinated colors all work together so easily. I went with a bold version using Rich Razzleberry cardstock and Basic Black cardstock as my two primary colors with all the patterns. Since I love lots of texture and dimension in my projects, I have used the Petal Burst Embossing folder underneath the photo mount and I think it really adds a nice touch.
You can see I got VERY creative with the way I came up with my title. I moved it from the sketch because of the size of what I had to work with. I decided NOT to do any stamping on this page to appeal to more scrapbooking customers that don’t stamp. What?! People don’t stamp?! I know, but some don’t. The title was cut on the Big Shot using the Celebrate You Thinlet Dies, Sunshine Wishes Thinlet Dies, Large Letters Framelit Dies and Merry Christmas Thinlet Dies. I always sang this sone to my daughter when she was little and tried to figure out how to use it as a title. The “My” was the tricky part. Hmm, improvisation and creativity had to come into play. I took the “Merry” and cut the letters apart to get what I needed, voila! Just perfect. The large flowers are from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlet dies and the small flowers are one of the little extra items in the Large Letter Framelit Die set. I love a little bling, so I added some recently retired Glitter Enamel Dots. I was pretty happy with the layout and I wanted to add another page to use this as my January Scrapbook Club layout and made this page to coordinate. Funny how this is not at all where I thought it would go, that’s part of the journey…just like in life. Below is a complimentary page to complete a 2-page design.
