Welcome to my page and the May ICS Blog Hop – It’s a Guy Thing! Join us the first Wednesday of the month for the ICS Blog Hop for all kinds of fun and inspiration. I am very happy to be part of this group. If you are new to my page, I hope you find my project fun and inspiring.
We’re all showcasing masculine projects as we near Father’s Day. I know many people say manly projects are harder to design. I don’t quite understand that, as we always have great products to use for masculine projects. This vintage style card is a technique I have wanted to try for some time and I was glad to have the chance to play with it for this classic car card. I hope you enjoy learning about how to create it for yourself.
The base has Night of Navy cardstock and a layer of Very Vanilla cardstock on the upper portion used with the Simple Stripes embossing folder. The lower part of the card has a layer from the great True Gentlemen Designer Series Paper, perfect for any manly projects! Both of these are wrapped with a piece of the fun Night of Navy corduroy ribbon, a favorite of mine because I love texture.
On to the good stuff…I used a piece of fun foam as the base for this. Be careful when heating to make sure not to get overly zealous and melt it. Don’t ask how I know this! 😉 You will need to immediately stamp it, as I did here with the car in the Guy Greetings stamp set using Basic Black Archival Ink. You need to press firmly and hold it a few seconds to be sure and get a good imprint into the fun foam. It really is easy and this was my first attempt at using this technique. Nice to have something fun and different giving a leather like look. I used a sponge dauber to add ink around the edges and a bit on the “leather” for a more roughed up version. I was quite pleased with the final outcome, what do you think? And, do you think you would give this a try?
And if you like the Guy Greetings stamp set, Basic Black Archival stamp pad or True Gentlemen Designer Series Paper, you’ll need to order them right away as they are all retiring at the end of the month. Contact your demonstrator to purchase any of these products, and I would love to be your demonstrator in the US.
