This punch art Happy Birthday Viola card is special to me for very personal reasons. I find it is especially memorable to me, since my Grandmother’s name was Viola. Making these flowers with the use of the Pansy Punch was very easy. These flowers were also one of her favorites that she always had in her garden.
It was very easy to make with a Elegant Eggplant card base, layered with Daffodil Delight cardstock. I ran it through the Big Shot machine using the Petal Burst embossing folder for some nice texture.
I stamped the sentiment using the Stylized Birthday stamp using the Elegant Eggplant stamp pad on Whisper White cardstock. It was layered onto another piece of Daffodil Delight, layered upon Elegant Eggplant cardstock.
I made the flower petals with the Pansy Punch and Daffodil Delight cardstock, Elegant Eggplant cardstock and Old Olive cardstock. The petals were cut apart to the center to create several petals. Each one was curled a bit with the Bone Folder. The Daffodil Delight petals were sponged around the edges using a Sponge and the Elegant Eggplant ink pad for added emphasis of the petals. As you can see from the flowers, I mixed both Daffodil Delight petals with one Elegant Eggplant petal just like with real viola flowers. I grouped them in clusters to form each flower and then layered them over a couple of petals in Old Olive cardstock behind as leaves.
Each of the Daffodil Delight petals has markings made using the Elegant Eggplant marker to simulate a real flower. I just love how pretty the came out and so realistic, too. Who wouldn’t love getting a similar punch art card as a birthday card? This would also make a great sympathy, get well or just thinking of you card by changing out the sentiment. I think it would make a lovely Mother’s Day card as well. I can also imagine a these being just gorgeous on a scrapbook layout for Spring or summer fun. The flowers are just so pretty!
Clustering these flowers together in an odd number visually is pleasing to the eye and a bit of added elegance is nice using the pearls as their center.
I hope you explore making this card using the punch art Happy Birthday Viola technique.
